Raccoons, Trash Panda

so almost everybody runs across a tiny little baby raccoon and they think they’re so adorable and they’re so cute either the mother’s been killed or abandon it. But what people don’t understand if you do not feed them the proper nutrition that they need as a baby it can be very detrimental to their health if you cannot find a rehab or to ask questions or help you along the way with rehabbing the baby raccoon then you are setting yourself up for failure I have rehab over 12 to 14 raccoons. Always make sure you have supplies on hand in case you do come across one do your research on a raccoon before you decide to take it on your own without bringing it to a rehab. They are cute and cuddly and love you at first you’re their mama you’re feeding them but as they grow they need shots they need rabies they need certain foods, a certain kind of bedding a certain kind of area for them to be in you can’t just let them run your house they will trash everything up tear everything up and they will start to become wild. I have seen some people keep them in a cage and only feed them which makes them even more Wilder they will start hissing and they will attack you the next time you open the cage if you want to be Hands-On with these raccoons then you need to be hands on and that’s constantly constant time to be with these raccoons give them the attention that they need they grow up in packs and they need that extra support.

Rabies and Other Infectious Diseases Studies show that raccoons make up nearly 30% of all rabies cases in the United States. Raccoons are also known to carry zoonic parasites and infectious diseases that can spread to you, your family, and your pets. Everybody always is afraid that when they see a raccoon during the day that it has rabies and that is absolutely a false statement raccoons are nocturnal the hunt for food at night but sometimes if they’re so hungry because we’re taking away their land they will come out during the day searching for food for their babies. As they start to grow you need to grow with them you need to be you can’t just stop because you’re out of that cute cuddly stage you have to go with them all the way which means going through their teenage years a bite from a raccoon can be very dangerous if they bite through your arm it could really damage a tendon , muscles. Definitely not something that you want to get bit by.

you have to know how to warm them the dosage to give them because like any other animal that eats off the ground will get worms again if you know nothing about this contact a rehabber that specializes in raccoons.

Additionally, raccoon droppings can may raccoon roundworm; a parasitic worm that can harm both humans and pets. The egg spores in the raccoon droppings are light and can quickly become airborne, resulting in a danger

Raccoons are smart, curious, active, and playful animals. However, they are also demanding, attention-seeking, and unpredictable. That can be loving on you getting a belly rub one minute and then turn around and attack you within a second.

When upset or moody, raccoons can act like hormonal teenagers. These selfish critters can turn vengeful, aggressive, and territorial in an instant all to assert their dominance.

Once they hit sexual maturity at about six months of age, they are no longer gentle and cuddly,” wildlife, suddenly and without warning,” your adorable, gentle pet can flip a switch and “bite your face off.”

let’s talk about some good things about raccoons you can train them to where they think that you are their family they can very very sweet and cuddly you can litter box train them and yes I can live in your house they will crawl in your cabinets , and throw everything on the floor so they can find a safe space for themselves they like being in the dark. But they are always watching. You need to watch what you feed your raccoon and if you don’t know there is a chart that you can look at that what raccoons eat and how much to feed them they can get very obese very quick. All the ones that I have done and rehabbed have never been harsh to me I spent a lot of time with them I’ll let him run around the backyard climb the trees in the backyard walk them with a leash and they get used to that. But the older they get is the time that you need to get them ready to go out on their own.

please return tomorrow for the second half of this blog thank you.
